This compact beech wood crêpe spreader helps distribute liquid batter across a hot, suitably flat cooking surface. The T-shaped crossbar is guided through the batter using a calm circular movement, allowing it to be spread before the centre begins to set completely.

A compact size for smaller and medium cooking surfaces

The approximately 14 cm wide crossbar makes this batter spreader more compact than many larger versions. It is particularly suitable for smaller to medium-sized pans, electric crêpe makers and flat crêpe plates with enough room for a circular movement.

A wider spreader may be more efficient on a large professional crêpe griddle. Movement can also be restricted inside a small pan with steeply raised sides, so it is advisable to check the usable diameter of the cooking surface before purchasing.

How to use the crêpe spreader

Pour the liquid batter onto the preheated cooking surface. Hold the handle lightly and guide the crossbar quickly and as flat as possible through the batter using a circular movement. The final thickness and evenness will also depend on the consistency and quantity of the batter, the cooking temperature and a little practice.

The tool is designed to spread batter while it is still liquid. A separate flat crêpe spatula is required to loosen, turn and fold the cooked crêpe.

For crêpes, galettes and thin batters

The wooden spreader can be used for traditional sweet crêpes, savoury galettes and other thin liquid batters that need to be distributed across a flat cooking surface. The lightweight T-shaped tool is not intended for dense, firm or heavily textured doughs.

Its compact size makes it a practical accessory for family breakfasts, relaxed cooking evenings, holiday accommodation, cookery classes and small crêpe stations at events.

Untreated beech wood with a natural feel

The crêpe spreader is supplied untreated. Beech wood has a naturally warm feel and avoids the hard contact of a metal edge. The care and usage instructions for the individual pan or crêpe maker should still be followed, as no kitchen utensil can guarantee complete protection against signs of use.

Wood is a natural material, so its colour, grain and surface appearance may vary slightly from the product images. These variations are part of the natural character of the item. Hofmeister supplies the spreader in plastic-free packaging and has it produced in family-run workshops.

Laser engraving or hot branding can be added on request. As the available surfaces are narrow and curved, short names, initials, dates and simplified logos are particularly suitable.

The spreader can be combined with a crêpe pan, baking mix, preserves or chocolate spread to create a themed gift set. For business customers, it is suitable for cafés, crêperies, hotels, cookery schools, food producers and seasonal customer campaigns. The position and size of each design are checked before larger production runs.

Cleaning and care

Clean the spreader thoroughly before first use. After use, wash it by hand with warm water, a mild detergent and a soft sponge. Remove batter residue promptly and allow the wood to dry completely.

Do not soak or place the spreader in a dishwasher, microwave or oven. Only place it on the hot cooking surface briefly while spreading the batter, do not leave it resting on a switched-on plate and keep it away from open flames. When required, the dry wood may be treated sparingly with a care oil suitable for wooden kitchen utensils.
