Prepare cutlets and roulades with controlled strokes

This double-sided meat mallet combines a long beechwood handle with two differently structured metal striking surfaces. It can be used to flatten or more intensively work the surface of suitable boneless cuts for schnitzel, roulades and other dishes.

Smooth side for even flattening

The smooth metal face is suitable for carefully flattening cutlets, roulade meat and suitable poultry portions. Use light, controlled strokes, working from the centre towards the edges until the required thickness is reached.

The result will depend on the type, cut and original thickness of the meat, as well as the force applied. Delicate cuts should be treated particularly carefully to avoid unnecessary damage to their structure.

Studded side for more intensive treatment

The textured side applies more concentrated pressure to the surface. It can be used to roughen and tenderise suitable firmer cuts of meat.

The studded face is not necessary for every cut. Tender meat and thin slices will often require only the smooth face or very gentle treatment.

A 28.5 cm beechwood handle

The long wooden handle provides distance from the work surface and allows the approximately 250 g mallet to be moved in a controlled manner. Beechwood has a pale, understated grain and a naturally warm feel.

Wood is a natural material, so its colour, grain and minor surface characteristics may vary slightly from one item to another. These variations form part of the product’s natural appearance.

Use a stable and suitable work surface

Place the meat on a stable, non-slip work surface suitable for handling raw food. Glass boards, plates, ceramic surfaces and delicate worktops are not suitable for pounding.

A suitable covering above and below the meat can reduce splashing and limit direct contact between the mallet and the raw food. Any film, bag or paper used must be food-safe and undamaged.

Not intended for bones or frozen food

The meat mallet is intended for suitable thawed, boneless cuts. It should not be used to break bones, frozen meat, ice or other particularly hard objects.

Such applications may damage the metal faces, wooden handle and work surface and increase the risk of the tool slipping or material splintering.

For home kitchens, cookery classes and gift sets

The meat mallet is suitable for private kitchens, holiday accommodation, cookery classes and smaller food businesses. Combine it with an apron, seasonings or a suitable chopping board to create a practical kitchen or barbecue gift.

Safe use

Make sure there is sufficient free working space before use. Never hold the meat with your free hand immediately beside the striking surface and do not swing the mallet towards another person.

Use controlled strokes only. Excessive force may damage the meat, work surface and tool. The meat mallet is not a general-purpose hammer and must not be used for DIY work.

Before each use, check that the wooden handle is secure and free from cracks and splinters. The metal faces must also be firmly attached and show no sharp edges, severe deformation or corrosion.

Cleaning after contact with raw meat

Clean the meat mallet immediately after use by hand with warm water, a mild detergent and a suitable brush or sponge. Pay particular attention to food residue inside the recesses of the studded metal face.

Do not soak or place in a dishwasher. Dry the wooden handle and metal surfaces thoroughly and allow the tool to air-dry completely. Store only when dry and in a clean environment.

When required, apply a small amount of care oil suitable for wooden kitchen utensils to the dry wooden handle. Do not apply oil to the metal surfaces or their fixings.

Please note: Do not continue using the meat mallet if the head or metal fittings become loose, or if the product develops cracks, splinters or sharp damage. Keep out of reach of children.
